Makeup mistakes are extremely common. So common, that in fact, many simply stop wearing makeup after spending one too many mornings scrubbing mascara from their under eyes, or trying to correct their smudged eyeliner and ending up looking like a cross between a panda and a raccoon. Even professional makeup artists fall prey to these unfortunate mishaps. Thankfully, there are some quick tips and hacks that can help you fix your mistakes in a jiffy. Here’s how you can correct your mess-ups.

#1 Clean With Primer:

Many makeup artists are still thrown on why exactly this helps. Most likely the grease and oil-like substances in primers help. If you find yourself the victim of black streaks caused by some runaway strand coated in mascara, or if you mess up your liner, grab your primer, apply it to the affected area by rubbing it in, and then wipe it away with a sponge or tissue. It works like a charm.

#2 Use A Smudge Brush:

If you, like the majority of other makeup users, find eyeliner to be a challenge and find yourself on the makeup equivalent of a black eye, a smudge brush is by far one of the best investments you can make. If you’ve, for example, smudged your liner, dip your brush into a dark eyeshadow, and smudge it over the mistake, and voila! You have yourself an impromptu smokey eye.

#3 Unclump With Spoolies:

Pals, let’s be real for a moment. We all love ourselves some long, dark, heavy lashes. Such desires can lead to too many strokes of a mascara wand, which leads to some clumpy spider lashes, and we don’t like that. Now if you’re to wash off your eye makeup, this will set you back by at least 10-15 minutes. So for a quick fix, find yourself a couple of clean spoolies, and run them through your lashes after applying mascara. This will separate your lashes and clear off unneeded products.

#4 Un-cake Your Foundation

Let’s assume for a moment that you’re all dolled up, ready to go wherever you want to go, and if you stick to the schedule, you’ll arrive at your appointment with 15 minutes to spare. As you’re getting ready to walk out the door, you get caught in some sunlight and happen to glance at your reflection. Your eyes pop open: your foundation is a disaster. It’s cakier than a bakery! And redoing the makeup will take at least an hour! Fear not, we have just the hack for you. Grab a light moisturizer, and rub a reasonable amount into your skin. Now grab a damp sponge or beauty blender, and blot off any excess product. This will make your makeup look more natural, and allow you to get by yet another day without adding an embarrassing moment to it.
